    An Adaptive Initiative Predictive Handoff Mechanism for Mobile IPv6

    • There are still large handoff latency and the packet being easier to lose on mobile IPv6 handoff. The handoff latency is composed by movement latency and register latency, and the handoff latency is its main section. In this paper, an adaptive initiative predictive neighbor unicast handoff scheme is presented. The adaptive initiative predictive algorism is adopted, predictions are intellectively carried out according to the network conditions and the movement of the mobile host, and the algorithm adjusts itself corresponding to the feedbacks. The special situation of Pingpang (table-tennis) effect is also fully considered. Besides, combined with the hierarchical mobility management scheme, the latency of registration is also reduced, and by adopting the predictive neighbor unicast, the network loads are reduced. Finally, a fast and smooth handoff is achieved.
