Abstract: Specification language is always the core of embedded system design methodology In this paper, the design requirements for specification languages of embedded systems are presented first, following a survey of their current progress trends Then, two de facto system level specification languages: SystemC and SpecC, are introduced and compared The points of view of languages based on C/ C++ are presented Finally, the prospects for future specification languages are given
