Abstract: After giving some new features in computer network design, a top--down method for network topology design is proposed. in which some parameters such as network traffic are considered, and a recursive algorithm DIVISION is sllggested. The techniques in operating theory are also used to sllpport analysis and decision-making. This top--down method is most suitable to the interconnecting of local area networks.
