Abstract: The relationship between TUP protocol and ISUP protocol is analyzed with respect to signaling messages, message parameters, signaling procedures and timers. A functional module ITUP is presented that is compatible with both TUP and ISUP. This method greatly simplifies the programming. It also improves the software compactness and code reuse. The method presented can meet current telephone network application and the future upgrade to ISDN.
