    HPNI: A NEW NETWORK INTERFACE FOR CLUSTER

    • 摘要: 文中介绍了一种新型的高性能网络接口(HPNI)的设计与实现.HPNI网络接口通过一个表直接由硬件对通信缓冲区进行维护,可以直接将消息数据从应用空间输入/输出到网络,从而支持真正意义上的0 拷贝通信协议.通过提供用户层网络访问接口,重叠通信与计算等手段,该接口取得了很高的通信性能.其中实际测量的应用程序之间16 字节消息的传递延迟不到3μs,最大持续通信带宽可达40MB/s.

       

      Abstract: The design and implementation of a new high performance network interface (HPNI) for cluster are presented in this paper. The HPNI network interface maintains a communication buffer table in hardware, can directly transport message data transfered into/out of the network, and provides sufficient support to implement truly zero\|copy communication protocol. Provided the user\|level network access interface and overlapping communication with computation, high communication performance is achieved with HPNI network interface. The latency of 16\|byte message measured at application level is less than 3μs, and the sustained bandwidth reaches 40MB/s for 2K\|byte\|length messages.
