Abstract:
Mobility management is a challenge in mobile computing. A dynamic mobility management strategy with a fuzzy logic controller is proposed, in which the number of the boundary crossing of a mobile host, the chain length of forwarding pointers, and the cost of location management are chosen as the input of the fuzzy logic controller, and besides, the variation of the chain length, which is used to adjust the chain length of forwarding pointers, is chosen as its output. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed strategy outperforms the basic mobility management strategy of the existing mobile communication networks in cases when call-to-mobility ratio is low.
