Abstract: A multicast model based on broadcast Banyan networks is established. The problems to be solved in multicasting when using Banyan network as routing network are stated. To take full advantage of the copying ability of broadcast Banyan networks, two routing coalescing algorithms are proposed to change the binary addresses of multicasting cells to trinary addresses. Analysis shows that the two proposed algorithms can efficiently reduce the link occupation in the network, so a utilization of the network resource can be improved.
