Abstract: A new fuzzy inference system is proposed in this paper. The fuzzy knowledge base has the compact rule set with its rule consequence stored only. During the inference procedure, the fired fuzzy rules can be directly addressed based on current inputs. Thus the system selectively executes fired rules only. The advantage of the system is that it can increase the fuzzy inference speed and reduce the memory capacity of the rule base. For the VLSI implementation of fuzzy inference engines, the addressing circuits of fired rules are presented.
