Abstract: With the existing shot change and camera operation detection algorithms, abrupt changes are detected fairly well. It is more difficult and challenging to detect gradual changes such as camera operation. In this paper, a novel algorithm for detecting special edit and camera operation is presented. This algorithm works in compressed video flow, using the DC component of the DCT transform, and analyzing the difference accumulation effect in 3 dimensional space along the time axis. Compared with the existing algorithms, it is more robust against light variation and object motion.
