Abstract: Since the birth of computational reflection, it has influenced many branches of information technology, showing huge potentials in flexibility enhancement. For workflow management technology, flexibility is an indispensable feature that has not been satisfactorily acquired. In the paper, the fundamental ideas of computational reflection and models of object-oriented reflection are introduced first. Then, some typical applications of reflection are presented. Finally, a reflective model used in the adaptive workflow system is given, and the running mechanism for enhancing application flexibility is described.
