Abstract:
In lP networks, QoS is becoming very important. Before a call is accepted, a suitable QoS path should be decided. In this paper, a new QoS path selecting algorithm for IP networks is presented. With fuzzy logic, a multi-objective cost function for path selecting is given. Bandwidth on the path, delay of the path, and hop count of the path are used as input variables. The membership shapes of the fuzzy variables and the fuzzy QoS path selecting rules are determined experimentally. The trade-off between bandwidth, delay, and hop count of a path brings about more reasonable results. The simulated results show that the path obtained by a fuzzy method is safer for users and more efficient for network resource. Moreover, the fuzzy method is easy and rapid in computing, and can easily be implemented in VLSI(very large scale integration ).
