Abstract: Engineering database is a next generation database to meet the special requirements of the engineering applications. In the engineering environment, user interface is an important direction to explore. In this paper, we examine the characteristics of and its engineering database query languages. An engineering database query language, ESQL, is presented and the data definition and grammar summaryare proposed.
