Abstract: Security of a database system is an important target that can be used to evaluate the performance of the DBMS. This paper discusses the security mechanism and itsimplementation of multimedia database management system DM2. DM2 provides several kinds of security policies according to the demands of users. A field level security protection mechanism is provided, which is not provided by common DBMS’s.
