Abstract:
Internet marketplaces are attractive as a mechanism to enable applications to draw on remote services for supply of data and for data manipulation. A model of spatial Internet marketplace is proposed, which is described in terms of the types of services available through it and the ways in which providers and customers participate. The architecture of the model is considered in terms of the components required and the special issues in constructing an infrastructure for a spatial Internet marketplace. A prototype application system is sketched to demonstrate an application of the model.
