Abstract: Irregularity is the major characteristic of handwritten Chinese characters and the chief factor affecting recognition ratio. Utilizing the method of machine discovery, the general deformation regularities of handwritten Chinese characters can be induced from a large number of samples, and these regularities can be used to direct the recognition procedure. This method can raise the accuracy of classification and reduce the capacity of the dictionary,so the matching speed can be raised.
