Abstract:
With the development of CAD/CAM and modern textile techniques, more and more requests focus on computer aided creating and manufacturing of gradient patterns. But few researches really focus on them. In this paper, several methods on how to create and manufacture gradient patterns according to the needs of textile, especially the needs of textile printing. They are: computer aided automatic creation, interactive creation and direct pick up from the source patterns. Each method is explained in detail and at the same time, the advantages and disadvantages of each method are also explained briefly. Finally, a novel algorithm for halftone is introduced. It overcomes the disadvantages of the old halftone algorithms used in textile printing, and produces no more moiré patterns. These methods have been realized using Visual C++ 6.0 under Windows 98 operating system and have been used in the textile CAD/CAM system (Top98). They work quite well in real factories.
