Abstract: Abstract:This paper introduces characteristics and development process of window systems.The key issues of raster graphics technology and design methods for implemen- tation of recent window systems are described.The structures of typical window systems, such as Macintosh,MS-windows,and X Window System,are also discussed.Finally,our experience through developing window system of IBM/PC is briefly described.
