Abstract: People have been discussing the classification criteria of things for a long time.Features of things are divided into essential features and general features,and it is submitted that the classification of things should be based on essential features of structure,quality,behavior and function.The concept of role is used to represent these essential features synthetically,and the subtype relations among object types on the foundation of role classification are established.
