Abstract: NCFW is an expert system which is suitable for granite and metamorphic rock districts to explore underground water resources. The interface to the system is by means of either menus or Chinese character dialogue, moreover, from natural language dialogue to menus. This paper mainly describes the design and implementation of Chinese character interface, the key programming techni-ques and the examples in the system operation.
