Abstract:
Facing the increasing needs for information storage capacity, volume holographic storage and retrieval of digital data can serve as the basis of a system that simultaneously provides very high capacity, high sustained transfer rate and short access time, so it can promise to meet the secondary storage needs of future computing applications. To realize the three characteristics in the system, not only several pivotal technologies from the commercial view, such as photoelectric units, photorefractive materials, recording and multiplexing methods, coding and fibre channels, but also the commercial rudiments of a volume holographic data storage system are introduced.
