Abstract:
In this paper, Clustered-Loss Retransmission Protocol (CLRP), a novel localized link layer retransmission protocol, is introduced to enhance the TCP performance over wireless networks. If considering the characteristics of bursty losses and high packet loss rate on wireless links, cooperating with TCP deployed on mobile hosts, CLRP can provide explicit loss reason and effective multiple wireless loss information for retransmission and better retransmission control to wireless losses. What's more, CLRP does not require any modifications to TCP deployed on fixed hosts.
