Abstract: This paper discusses the property,design and implementation methods of local area network databases(LANDB)systematically.It points out that LANDB belongs to the distributed database cotegory.To find out the suitable design and implementing methods for LANDB,the characteristics of LANDB are analysed by comparing LANDB with certralized database systems and wide area distributed dalabase systems The paper lays emphase on the discusses of the following main problems,i.e.the structure of data schema,data base division,concurrent control,data allocation and data recovery.The design or implementing methods for LANDB are given for each problem discussed.
