Abstract:
This paper presents a new algorithm for realtime generation of rotating paraboloid images,which can be extended into quadric surfaces.The algorithm only needs to plot a set of equi-intensity curves of diffuse reflection and specular reflection on the rotating paraboloid,and then realistic image can be obtained.This algorithm drastically reduces the amount of computation compared to traditional algorithm of computing intensity for each pixel and the algorithm is suited to implementation with parallel pipeline hardware.Theoretic analysis and software simulation have proved that the algorithm is well appropriate for real-time generation of quadric surface images.
