Abstract: SUPERBASE is an object oriented multidatabase system which aims at integrating efficiently information among existing local heterogeneous database systems to achieve information sharing. The architecture and the schema integration mechanism of the SUPERBASE system are introduced, and then the various semantic conflicts existing in object oriented multidatabases and the corresponding solutions to these semantic conflicts are expounded. Finally, the integration data model IDM and the integration data language IDL of the SUPERBASE system are also discussed.
