    Overview of the Applications of Curvelet Transform in Image Processing

    • 摘要: 近年来,Curvelet变换由于其独特性而受到研究人员的日益关注. Curvelet变换由小波变换发展而来,克服了小波变换在表达图像边缘的方向特性等方面的内在缺陷.目前的应用已经显示出它在图像处理中巨大的发展潜力.总结了Curvelet变换的原理及实现方法,介绍了它在图像处理中的典型应用,并通过与一些相关算法的比较分析了它在不同应用中的效果和特点,最后对它的应用发展趋势进行了展望.

       

      Abstract: The Curvelet transform has received more and more attention in recent years due to its unique characteristics. This transform was developed from the wavelet transform and it has overcome some inherent limitations of wavelet in representing directions of edges in image. The applications of Curvelet transform reveal its great potential in image processing. In this paper, the theory and implementation of Curvelet transform is summarized, its representative applications are introduced in view of their corresponding effects and characteristics compared with other prevailing techniques. Finally, the prospect of its applications in image processing is discussed.
