    超大规模集成电路结构研究与第五代计算机

    VLSI Structure Research and the Fifth-Generation Computer

    • 摘要: 超大规模集成电路(VLSI)作为第五代计算机系统的硬件基础,已是公认的了,但VLSI怎样才能更好地、更充分地发挥这个作用呢?本文通过介绍VLSI结构研究中的几个成果(矩阵乘法的高效流水线处理机阵列、通用并行计算模型、VLSI化的词法分析器、VLSI排序线路等),大体说明了VLSI结构研究的一般特点及其潜在应用能力,展望了这种研究在第五代计算机系统开发中可能发挥的巨大作用.

       

      Abstract: It is well known that VLSI will serve as a basis for the haradware of the fifth-generation computer systems.But how can VLSI play the role well and completely? In this paper,by presenting some results in the field of VLSI structure research(e.g.the efficient pipeline processor array for the matrix multiplication,universal parallel computation models,VLSI lexical analyzer,VLSI sorting circuits,etc.),we have discussed the general characteristics and the potentiality for practical application of VLSI structure research,and explored the importance in the development of the fifth-generation computer systems.
