Abstract:
Based on grid technology, a novel road traffic infrastructure referred to as traffic grid is proposed to meet the resource sharing and coordinated use requirements for intelligent traffic system (ITS) development and deployment. The service-oriented and layered system architecture of traffic grid is presented, which divides the whole system into 4 layers: resource services layer, basic services layer, domain services layer, and application services layer.Next, the 3 different abstract levels for traffic grid implementation—information fusion, function encapsulation and application integration—are discussed.Meanwhile, based on OGSA, two different programming modes—request/response mode and subscribe/notify mode—are presented and evaluated with real traffic data respectively. Finally, an example application is given to illustrate how the traffic grid works.
