Abstract: Abstract: A speaker-independent isolated word recognition system is described which is based on the use of multiple reference patterns for each word in the vocabulary.The word,reference patterns are obtained from a fuzzy clustering analysis.Then the distances between the reference patterns and the speech to be recognized are examined so as to find out which class the speech belongs to.
