Abstract: Product data management （PDM） system plays a critical role in the integration of a multiple application system in heterogeneous disciplines,especially in the implementation of CIMS and CE.Here introduced is a distributed PDM system——MPDM, which is based on the architecture of multi client/multi server and takes advantage of many advanced software technologies.In order to manage the product processes and data,MPDM uses the STEP based product model constructed according to the methodology developed by ISO TC184/SC4.
