Abstract: This paper presents a new feature extraction approach which can describe planar shapes precisely. The main features of our approach are its small amount of computation required and its simplicity of feature extraction results. The experimental vision system based on this approach can recognize arbitrarily-positioned and partially-occluded or overlapped industrial parts. It well fits for the real-time demand on industrial lines.
