Abstract: The application prospects of electronic data interchange（EDI） technology are approved by all circles. The authors explain briefly the various components of EDI technology, describe in detail the format of EDI document and communication basis of EDI, and discuss techniques to transfer EDI document in safety. Finally, a practical EDI system is given.
