Abstract: Based on the membership function which is the foundation of fuzzy set theory,the new idea of membership clouds is proposed. The method of describing membership clouds by using digital characteristics and the mathematics model of normal membership clouds are given, and the implementation techniques and application areas of membership cloud generators are discussed in this paper.It may be a way to bridge the gap between quantitative methodology and qualitative methodology in research on fuzzy phenomenon in both social and natural sciences.
