Abstract: The CIMS of Lanhua Chemical Fiber Plant is a project of 863/CIMS application popularization program. The implementation of the project shows features of process CIM. This paper describes its architecture, which has two application subsystems（process manufacturing system and management information system）. From the implementation of the first phase we have gained a lot of experiences of using the fast prototype method, client/server architecture and advanced software development tools. Thefunctions of human beings and organization must be emphasized, and the research anddesign of business process reengineering must begin as early as possible.
