Abstract:
Extra traffic as well as overhead of time and space produced by RSVP entities is one of the key problems in RSVP implementation in a Internet environment. A scheme is put forward to solve this problem through RSVP tunnel and QoS request aggregation in this paper. The essential idea of the scheme is as follows: an aggregation represents a number of messages of RSVP sessions with specific character, The RSVP module of router in a tunnel segment set soft states for the aggregation’s message and do nothing for individual messages of RSVP sessions, each message of RSVP session are encapsulated and propagated through the tunnel. RSVP tunnel and QoS request aggregation are defined and their construction are studied. The procedure of forwarding messages of different classes are described. Comparison and evaluation show that QoS requests can be achieved in an efficient way by using this scheme.
