A Global Uniform Hierachical Grid Resource Model

Abstract
Grid computing introduces a new way for resources organization, which integrates the computing power, information services, devices, etc. over the Internet into a uniform and powerful service entity. In this paper, a concept of logical resource tree is introduced first and then a global uniform hierarchical grid resource model (UHGRM) is built. Compared with the resource pool and global-local two-layer model, UHGRM abstracts resource parameters from the heterogeneous resources to form the basis of the uniform resource presentation in the whole wide-area network environment. It also possesses high scalability through supporting dynamic resource joining and detaching. Furthermore, UHRM organizes the resources into a hierarchical structure according to the network communication performance between them. This avoids blindness for resource choosing. Analysis shows that the complexity of resource search in UHRM is O(log(N)).
