A HETEROGENEOUS MULTIPROCESSOR SYSTEM BASED ON i860 AND TRANSPUTER

Numerous new RISC processors provide support for supercomputing. By using the “mini-Cray” i860 XP superscalar processor, an add-on board has been developed to boost the performance of an existing transputer system. Of these processors a parallel heterogeneous multiprocessor supercomputing system is composed. In this paper, the design and performance evaluation of this system is presented.
