DESIGNING THE RULE BASE AND THE INFERENCE ENGINE FOR TEST SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS

Two important factors of an expert system are the expert knowledge representation and the mechanism for interpreting expert knowledge and for controlling the diagnostic process. They are called the rule base and the inference engine respectively. This paper discusses how to design the structure of the rule base and how to design and build an inference engine for test system diagnosis as applied to VLSI test systems.
