Abstract
As network technology has developed into the application oriented stage, the traditional interconnection oriented network architecture can no longer meet the requirement of network applications evaluated by high performance. By researching on the history of network architecture development and adopting the results of software architecture researches, a framework of interaction based network architecture (FINA) is proposed in this paper. FINA describes network architecture in three abstract levels: general network hierarchical structure, component based framework, and template of components and their interactions. It not only still has the open structure of peer to peer interactions in traditional network architecture, but also introduces the customized structure of inter layers interactions in modern network architecture. It is shown that FINA is suitable for describing and evaluating the traditional network and high performance network with flexible service customization requirements by applying it to describing and analyzing the traditional and programmable network architecture.
