Research and Implementation of Network Performance Mesurement of Internet Applications

Emphasis is put on how to build a measurement infrastructure for network performance of Internet applications The infrastructure supplies to the numerous increasing Internet applications a scalable performance measurement system In this paper, the performance data are first characterized and categorized into three types Then a scalable performance measurement model is built In this model a distributed architecture is designed, which is composed of application-specific collectors and regional collectors Finally, the architecture and technologies are discussed as an implementation of the model in the project of the national key basic research project "Theoretical and Experimental Studies on Applications Based on the Nationwide Information Infrastructure
