    ADMISSION CONTROL ALGORITHM SUITABLE TO AAL2 PACKET VOICE MULTIPLEXER

    • Studied in this paper is an admission control algorithm suitable to the AAL2 packet voice multiplexer, which takes into consideration the features and quality of service requirements of AAL2 packet voice. A conclusion is drawn that average rate bandwidth allocation can meet the quality of service requirements of the AAL2 packet voice multiplexer without bit dropping. If the ATM VC bandwidth utilization is reduced (e.g. ρ =0.9), the voice quality can be further improved. And very good voice quality can be achieved if the ATM VC bandwidth utilization is set at 0.8. Computer simulation results obtained are in good agreement with the conclusion. Finally, an admission control algorithm is presented, which can easily control the number of voice calls that can be accessed into the AAL2 packet voice multiplexer.
