An Effective Method of Supporting Relationships Among Objects

This paper presents an approach, called inverse attribute method, to support the effective implementation of relationships of objects in object-oriented data model. As compared with the conventional model this method makes it more convenient to describe the relationships among objects and can improve the performance of operations significantly, while maintaining the DAG structure of complex objects intact. The paper also introduces some constraints for inserting/deleting component objects to enhance the flexibility of the model. The combineduse of the methods gives an explicit expression of integrity constraints and the IS--PART--OF relationship of object-oriented data model.
