Abstract
Dead reckoning (DR) technique is very important to large scale distributed interactive simulation (DIS) systems. The general linear and high order DR algorithms are discussed in this paper. A new model based DR (MBDR) technique is proposed to achieve great reduction of communication loads for the wide area of distributed air ground interactive simulation system (DAGIS). An adaptive model transition method and dynamic selection of DR thresholds are discussed. Smoothing and delay compensation algorithms are also introduced. All the techniques are applied in the DAGIS experimental system and the results are encouraging.
