Abstract
In order to improve the speed, performance and robustness of motion estimation, a hybrid block matching algorithm is proposed Adaptively determined by the motion level of spatial neighbor blocks are pattern of checking points, scope of searching window and whether the multiple candidate method is introduced or not Searching pattern adapted to trivial motion and multiple candidate sub sampling method adapted to furious motion are designed to satisfy requirements on both speed and accuracy The simulation results show that the searching speed and accuracy of the algorithm is superior to the recently developed excellent algorithm DS
