PROCESS VS DISCRETE CIM

This paper describes the features of process vs. discrete manufacturing onchange of materials, production process, manufacturing automation and so on. The architecture for process CIM is shown. There are two application blocks for processCIMS: process manufacturing （control） system and management information system（MIS）. Process control system is specially important in process CIMS. Distributed control systems （DCS） are the basis of process control and information integration.
