WINDOWED BLACK BOX MODEL AND MULTIPLE CHANNELS TEST METHOD APPLIED IN THE ROUTING PROTOCOL TEST

Abstract
The efficiency and the coverage of the routing protocol test are desiderated to be promoted. The original test theory for the communication protocol test models the implementation under test (IUT) as a black box. Thus the means available to enforce the controllability and the observability can not be exploited at all. In the work on the routing protocol test, IUT is modeled as a windowed black box and the multiple channel test method is realized in the test system, which increases the efficiency and the coverage considerably. The controllability and the observability are promoted through the modules that interact with the model under test. The time to execute the test cases is reduced to 50 percent compared with the original manner. The scopes and the contents unable to test before are eliminated/reduced and the number of corresponding test cases is increased by more than three times. The work performed also paves the way for the imperative and massive test of routers.
