    IMPLEMENTATION OF VIRTUAL DESIGN ENVIRONMENT FOR EMBEDDED SYSTEM

    • The ESDL language and the EHDL language are defined for hardware and software in the virtual design environment for an embedded system. ESDL is a superset of the ANSI C standard, which is enhanced by some data type for embedded programming. EHDL is a kind of hardware description language. The designer can use a co\|verification environment, which consists of embedded software debugger and embedded hardware simulator, to debug the embedded system. With the virtual integration environment, software designers can detect hardware\|related bugs early in the design cycle and hardware designers can obtain a truer picture of system functionality. Both hardware and software errors can be encountered and repaired before the fabrication.
