IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF WEB INFORMATION CACHING MANAGEMENT BY ADAPTIVE MECHANISM

Different caching methods are used in the Web information retrieval processes in order to reduce Internet’s net\|load and to get quick response. To some degrees, how to improve the caching technology becomes the bottle\|neck of the performance of Web Information retrieval, especially of the domain specific Web information retrieval. This paper first gives the description and analysis of the characteristics which most existing caching methods own, and then presents a new caching method using adaptive mechanism to improve the performance of Web information caching and the way how to implement it. The method has been used in the development of the Web information retrieval system for Intranet （WebCapture）. The main idea of this adaptive Web information caching management is improving the performance by auto\|tracing the updated status of the Web documents and by dynamic\|forecasting the behaviors of the user reading Web documents.
