Media Access Protocols for Local Ring Networks

The present paper surveys various media access protocols of 22 local ring networks reported in the literature, under a classification system proposed by the auther. The main approaches in each of 9 categories of different time assignments and space assignments are described. Their identities and diffetences ate compared.
