A NEW ALGORITHM FOR INTRA-MEDIA SYNCHRONIZATION

A new scheme for synchronized playback in multimedia systems is proposed. This multimedia synchronization control is based on the source regulation. Asynchrony is detected by watching the buffer level of the sink. Once an asynchrony is discovered, corrective transmission rate, which is decided by the control function, is adopted by the source in order to restore synchrony. The regulation algorithm is easy to implement. Experimental results show that the scheme is able to deal with asynchronies introduced by the variation of the average delay. The scheme wins an advantage over previous others in decreasing the lost data and keeping continuous presentation.
