DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ACTIVE MECHANISMS IN A DISTRIBUTED DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

A distributed database management system——DHDB is presented, which has Client/Server architecture. The design and the implementing technique of active mechanisms in DHDB are discussed. According to semantics and formal descriptions of active rules, an active rule language is devised. A three level storage model in storing rules is introduced. Finally, the trigger process of active rules in a distributed environment is described in detail.
